What to Do in a Dental Emergency
Call our clinic immediately on 07 3733 3233. Our team can triage your situation over the phone and advise on immediate steps while arranging a same-day appointment.
For a knocked-out tooth, handle it by the crown only, rinse briefly with milk if dirty, and try to re-implant it. If not possible, store it in milk or inside your cheek and get to us within 30 minutes.
For severe pain, take over-the-counter pain relief as directed, apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek, and avoid very hot or cold foods. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum.

We offer several comfort options for anxious patients. Your dentist can prescribe oral medication to help you relax before your appointment. For more complex emergency procedures, in-house IV sedation can be arranged. Where general anaesthesia is needed, we coordinate referrals to hospital-based facilities. We never want anxiety to delay urgent dental care.

Once your pain is relieved and the situation is stabilised, we discuss any follow-up treatment needed. This may include a permanent crown or bridge, root canal therapy, extraction, or - where a tooth cannot be saved - discussion of implant replacement options.
