What is included in a general check-up?
A general check-up at Arete involves a comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, and soft tissues. We screen for oral cancer, check jaw joint function, and take low-dose digital x-rays if needed to detect decay between teeth. It is a thorough health audit for your mouth.
How often should I have a dental clean?
For most patients, a professional clean every 6 months is recommended to remove plaque and tartar build-up that brushing misses. If you have a history of gum disease or higher risk factors, we may suggest visiting every 3 to 4 months for optimal maintenance.
What is the difference between a filling and a crown?
A filling repairs a small area of decay or damage, restoring the tooth directly. A crown (or cap) covers the entire tooth and is used when a tooth is heavily broken, cracked, or has had a root canal, providing essential structural support that a filling cannot offer.
Do you treat gum disease?
Yes, we provide comprehensive periodontal (gum) care. From routine maintenance to deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) for active gum disease, our focus is on stabilizing your gum health to prevent tooth loss and protect your systemic health.
How can I fix a chipped tooth?
A chipped tooth can often be repaired simply with composite bonding in a single visit. For larger chips or fractures, a porcelain veneer or crown might be necessary for long-term strength. We will assess the damage and recommend the most conservative, durable option.
Do you offer white fillings?
Yes, we are a mercury-free practice and only use tooth-coloured composite or ceramic fillings. These materials bond to your tooth structure, strengthening it while blending seamlessly with your natural enamel for a beautiful, healthy result.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, we believe quality dental care should be accessible. We offer a range of flexible payment plan options to help spread the cost of your treatment over time. Please ask our friendly team about the options available during your visit.
Do you bulk bill?
We offer bulk billing for eligible children under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). For adult general dental services, we are a private billing practice, but we can process your health fund claim on the spot.
